Dr Baagi Mmereki
Biography
Dr Mmereki has a PhD in Environmental Chemistry from the University of Toronto (Canada), Master of Science degree in Physical Chemistry from Georgetown University (U.S.A and B.Eng. in Chemical Engineering from the Technical University of Nova Scotia (Canada). Currently he is a Senior Lecturer of Physical Chemistry at the University of Botswana. He has previously received United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) Chemicals grant for Persistent Organic Pollutants Along Environmental Transects in Costa Rica, Chile, Nepal, and Botswana (USD12,500 for Botswana as part of a Total project cost of USD250,000). Dr Mmereki was the Director of the University of Botswana Foundation. He is serving as a Board Member of National Chemical Weapons Board in the Ministry of Defence and Security. He has led a team of Academics, Ministry of Health (Pharmacy and Drug Quality Assurance Laboratory), and Supply Chain Management System (SCMS) of Botswana to benchmark on testing and quality assurance of drugs with the objective of building local capacity in drug testing and instrumentation. He was also the Founder and National Secretary of IAESTE – the International Association for the Exchange of Students in Technical Experience.
